During last night’s episode of Property Brothers season 10, Drew and Jonathan helped Michelle and Rave find their dream home for them and their two children. They used to own a condo, but they ended up having to sell it because Michelle needed money for school. They are currently living with Rave’s parents and space is a little tight.
They are looking for something with four bedrooms, open floor plan and their budget is $890,000. The first house they look at is a little outdated for them, but Drew reminds them to keep an open mind. He tells them that this isn’t even the oldest house he is going to show them. Rave and Michelle start picking apart everything they don’t like about this house from the moment they walk in. The kitchen is super small, but there is an added bonus of a family room upstairs from the entry and a powder room on the first floor. Michelle says that the kitchen alone wouldn’t work because of the size of Rave’s family, however Jonathan tells them that he would relocate the kitchen.
After looking at a few more houses, they come across another house which has a lot of potential and it’s close to their daughters’ schools. Jonathan tells them that he would open up the entire first floor to create a better flow from kitchen, dining room and living room. After Rave and Michelle think about it they tell Drew that they are going for the first house they looked at. Drew tells us that the seller is only taking offers on one day, but he thinks that if they come in strong at market level, they will have a great shot at getting the house and he was right! This is what the house looked like before. These pictures are labeled for the rooms that they are going to be in the final design.

During the demolition in the house, Jonathan notices that the person that put in the hood in over the stove wasn’t a licensed professional. The rest of the demolition goes pretty smoothly, but when they start doing some of the renovation, Jonathan has some decisions for them to make about their current heating system and their sub-floor which needs to be replaced. This is adding some money to their renovation, but the floors have to be done and if the furnace isn’t updated now, the current one will just breakdown on them. Jonathan then has Michelle make some design decisions for the kids playroom area. Speaking of design, here is what Jonathan had planned for this house!

Rave springs something on Jonathan, he went out and bought flooring for the house and Jonathan is worried about that. However, Rave did a pretty good job picking this hardwood flooring out and it’s really high quality. Jonathan says that the only thing not working for him is all the bake goods that Rave keeps bringing from his bakery for the workers.
Rave comes for a surprise visit to ask Jonathan if he would incorporate some pictures of Michelle’s mom in the design. Her mother passed away when she was young and he really wanted to surprise her with something. Later, Michelle comes by to check out the flooring and she is pleasantly surprised. While her and the girls are there, Jonathan thinks it would be a cute idea to have the girls do some plaster hand art.
It is move in day and they are completely blown away when they first walked in. Here is what the house looked like after Jonathan worked his magic!
