House Hunters Diana and Rohaib are moving to Tampa from Utah. And after we find out that he stalked her before they got married, we learn that they are moving to Florida in search of an endless summer.
The couple has a broad budget of $250,000-400,000. And their wish lists are quite different, which should never come as a surprise when it’s House Hunters couples.
Wish Lists
His: He wants a house on the water. He prefers Mediterranean-style and would like 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms (he says he needs his space – aka divorce), a pool and a gym.
Hers: She wants a small modern loft or condo. She would prefer it be a high-rise downtown, close to shopping. 2 bedrooms and1 bathroom are fine for her. But she does want a laundry room.
Let’s see if their realtor can find them something that will work for both their wants and needs, and by their I mean her.
House #1 $279,900
The first place is a Hhgh-rise condo. It has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It also has high HOA fees, but those cover a rooftop pool, hot tub and gym. The unit has real hardwoods and high-end appliances. It’s very narrow and claustrophobic, though. It also has the washer and dryer in the kitchen. This place is terrible for that price. If they take that, they’re crazy. The spare bedroom doesn’t even have windows. Surely they won’t take this place, right?
House #2 $389,900
The next house is an actual house. It’s a single-family home with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and it’s right on the water. It also has no HOA fees, but it is at the top of their budget.
It has been totally remodeled and has a very open floor plan. The floors look really fake, but the kitchen is really nice and modern. It also has a screened lanai and a pool. It does have a pretty gross laundry room with an outdoor entrance, though. The bedrooms are pretty decent sizes.
I like the house, but it just seems like it was remodeled really cheaply. I don’t think Diana loves the house, but he does. This is a contender or sure.
House #3 $204,000
The last place is another condo, but this one has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The HOA fees are absurd at over $600, but there’s a large terrace, sundeck, a pool and gym.
Inside, the unit is not huge, but it’s a lot nicer than the first condo. There’s a great view of the water. The condo is in the middle of being remodeled, so a lot of what they’re seeing is going to change. But it will be all new, so that’s something I’d find attractive.
I think this is the probably the one for them because it checks all boxes on their checklist. It’s not the house he wants, but it has the extra bathroom. And the laundry isn’t in the kitchen, so that should be a bonus for her.
So I’m going to officially say they’re going with house #3. It’s under budget and it has basically everything they’re looking for.
So what house did they decide to go with? They picked house #1. Nope, not at all what I expected. Yikes. What a bad decision.
