Jordan and Kristen have been married for seven years. She’s currently an MBA student and he works in tech as a marketing person for video games. They moved from San Francisco to Redmond for Jordan’s job. They have been renting a place in Washington for over a year and now, along with House Hunters, are ready to take the plunge and buy a home.
They want to stay near the east side of Washington, either in Redmond, Bellevue or Kirkland. Jordan and Kristen’s budget is $1 million.
Wish Lists
Kristen and Jordan want a three bedroom and two bathroom home. They don’t want to share a bathroom, so having multiple ones is critical to keeping their marriage alive. Jordan and Kristen also both want modern homes.
Hers: Kristen wants more of a mid-century modern home or a craftsman style one. She doesn’t mind if the home needs some work.
His: Jordan would prefer if the home was more contemporary and move-in ready. He also wants a three-car garage for storing work equipment.
House #1, $900,000
This traditional style home is located in the Bellevue area. It has about 1500 sq ft, and three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms. On the outside it has more of a traditional style, but the inside looks very modern with an open concept. It has an attractive kitchen with white cabinets and newer appliances.
The kitchen has barn doors that lead to the laundry room. The home has a large backyard that gives their yorkie plenty of running space. The main bathroom is very small; Jordan can barely fit into it. The master bedroom is a decent size, just enough room for Jordan and Kristen.
House #2, $925,000
This Redmond located home has about 2300 sq ft and an acre of land. It has four bedrooms, and two and a half bathrooms. It has a two-car garage but an extra one-car garage with a bathroom and workstation. This is the area that Jordan could use for his workroom. This home is mid-century modern inside but has a lot of brick and wood that give it a lodge style.
It also has an outdated kitchen. The master bedroom is a better size than the first home. It also comes with extras like a sauna and hot tub.
House #3, $848,000
This home has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. It’s about 2500 sq ft. It’s also right off the freeway, so Jordan and Kristen can hear all the street noises from the outside. It has a lot of character with a formal dining room, private deck accessible through the bathroom, and a library area that could be become the office. The home also has a workshop area for Jordan.
This home also comes with a bonus area that has a lovely view of Lake Washington.
Decision Time: House Hunters keeps experimenting with their format. This time they did the reveal a little different than the norm. Jordan and Kristen had to make a quick decision, so they discussed their options, per usual. However, this time we didn’t hear them pick the house. It just faded into them in their new home with the number at the bottom. I’m not sure how we feel about the format change yet.
Kristen and Jordan pick…House #2
The home got twelve offers, so they ended up getting it for $1.165 million instead of the $925,000 asking price. Jordan and Kristen have already been working on renovations. They removed the popcorn ceiling, changed the lighting in all the rooms, and repainted. They have plans to remove some of the walls and make it more open.
