This House Hunters takes us to Naples, FL as we watch gymnastics instructor Cricket search for a bright beach bungalow. Best friends Jen and Cricket balance each other out: Jen takes the practical approach to life, and Cricket takes more of the dreamer route. Cricket spent 14 years living in her Naples condo, and now finally wants to find her own home. Jen joins the search to keep Cricket on track.
Her budget is $350,000. She wants four bedrooms and two bathrooms, all these extra rooms would be rented out to make additional money.
Wish Lists
Hers: Against Jen’s advice, Cricket wants a fixer upper. She wants a lot of projects, but Jen thinks she should only commit to a few, because her work schedule is too hectic for major renovations. She wants a stylish bathroom, a deck, and an open concept home. Cricket wants the place to have a lot of light and be bright, located near a beachh, and a two car garage, where she can store some of her gymnastics equipment.
House #1, $356,000
It’s a bungalow ranch with extreme amounts of remodeling projects. We had to take a minute and figure out if we were watching House Hunters or Flip or Flop Vegas with all the renovations it needed. The home was basically just space.
However, it was a large space, so it almost made it seem worth it. However, Cricket’s budget had no room for all the work that the place needed to be move-in ready. One of the Fixer Upper or Flip or Flop hosts should definitely buy up and remodel that place. It had a lot of potential, just not for Cricket.
House #2, $349,900
This place was also a ranch bungalow, but modern and updated. It had beautiful flooring, the wood style tiles really stood out and gave it a little extra something special. It was open concept, had a nice backyard with a pool and view of a canal.
The bathroom was very fancy with two vanities and a very spacious shower. There was also four bedrooms and one of them was separate from the house. It was accessible through the garage. Finishing that room would be Cricket’s project.
House #3, $270,000
Cricket made a comment about the house reminding her of SpongeBob because of the yellow color. Unlike the other two places, this one was very close to the beach–one of Cricket’s wish list items. It was also fully furnished and way under budget.
It had a walk on roof and a deck. Cricket didn’t like the kitchen countertops but that could be one of her projects, along with turning the walk on roof into one large deck. This was a two-unit townhouse, so the other bedrooms were in an attached smaller space, which is perfect for renting out.
Decision Time: We knew house #1 was for sure out of the running. It required too much work, and she couldn’t afford to fix it up. House #2 and house #3 were very close, because both had projects but almost move-in ready.
After some discussion, Cricket decided to go with…House #3!
With the price, location, and design, this place was ideal. Cricket really scored a great home with this one.
