House Hunters Recap: Couple Wants A Boston Beach House

House Hunters Suzi and Rich are looking for a house on the beach in Winthrop, Massachusetts, just outside of Boston. Rich would actually like to be able to kayak to work. That’s a wishlist item I’ve never seen before.

The couple is getting married soon and they want to have a house with the laid-back atmosphere of the beach before they tie the knot. They’re budget is $375,000 and since they’re not terribly picky, they should be able to find what they’re looking for.

Wish Lists

Hers: She wants two bedrooms and ocean view in a house that is move-in ready. She want stop do no work and prefers a more modern style with an updated kitchen.

His: He would rather have at least a half bath more than one bathroom. He also thinks that a fixer-upper wouldn’t be a terrible idea because they could save money for the wedding. 1.5 bathrooms. And they both agree that an area for entertaining guests would be nice.

So let’s see what their realtor has up her sleeves.

House 1, $220,000

The first place is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom condo. And it is tiny. The living room and kitchen are open to one another but so small that you could open the fridge from the couch. But there is an ocean view with a deck and that is very important to them. The bedrooms are also small.

I think this place is a little too cozy for them. Rich was far less interested in the condo than Suzi, though, so it could still be a contender. I could never live in that house, though. It’s just way too small.

House 2, $339,900

The second place is also a condo, but with one less bedroom. They’d be buying the downstairs unit and would share the outdoor area, which includes a pool, with the upstairs owners. This one also has a great ocean view. The space it a lot larger than the first place, or seems a lot larger. as it’s much more open and bright. And even though there’s only one bedroom, it’s a good size with a walk-in closet. The kitchen is updated. It wasn’t done with the best design choices, but it’s all pretty new at least. The bathroom is updated as well, but a little on the small side.

The hose is below their budget and right near the beach, so they seemed to be really impressed with it.

House 3, $374,000

The third place is an actual single family home with 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. And the best part is that the back yard is literally the beach. The living area isn’t huge but everything is open and airy, so it doesn’t seem as small. The kitchen is a bit tight, but it’s relatively newly updated. The half bath is large for a half and the master bedroom is a great size and opens up to a deck on the beach (with spiral steps leading down to th e beach).

This house seems to be perfect for them. The only real downside is that the price is at the opt of their budget. But it has everything they’re looking for so how could they not pick this house?

House Hunters has really been tricking me lately, but I think this time it’s pretty obvious that they have to go with House 3. But if not, they’ll probably go with the second condo.

So which did they choose? They decided to go with House 3! Finally the buyers went with the obvious house. Such a good choice. Do you think they made the right choice with House 3?
