In May, Flip or Flop began its eighth season. Exes Tarek El Moussa and Christina El Moussa continued their hosting duties, despite the highly publicized break-up. The visible tension on-screen, and probably off-screen, has not stopped the diehard Flip or Flop fans from remaining loyal to the duo. Now Tarek and Christina are getting some time apart on-screen with their own HGTV projects.
Up first is Christina, who just announced her plans to star in a new HGTV series called Christina on the Coast. It follows Christina as she balances work and being a single mother. The Flip or Flop star recently sold her Yorba Linda home to move to Newport Beach with her two children (Taylor, 7, and Brayden, 2).
The show will be a lot different from Flip or Flop because it focuses on renovations and Christina’s home life. Each episode, she helps people transform a space in their home to a more high-end version. Due to time restrictions, and still working on Flip or Flop, Christina will only design and renovate one room in these homes.
The show began filming on Monday; it has an eight episode order. The first episode follows Christina as she renovates her own new home. HGTV scheduled Christina on the Coast to premiere in early 2019. Tarek is also in talks to create his own spin-off series.
Flip or Flop continues to be a ratings hit for HGTV, and inspired five spin-off series, so this decision to create spin-off series centered around Christina and Tarek on their own is a surprise to no one.
Tune into Flip or Flop every Thursday at 8:00 PM CST.
