On this Flip or Flop Vegas, Bristol and Aubrey transformed an unfinished renovation project into a quirky home of wonders. The episode starts with a warning: Aubrey reveals that the home only had one picture listed for it. This lets Bristol, and viewers, know that we’re in for a messy home.
Surprisingly, it’s bad but not as bad as our imagination. The home is basically half-way torn down. Someone began a renovation project, but didn’t finish. This is a bit of a disappointment for Bristol, because he was looking forward to his “Hulk smash” moment. The two bedroom, three bathroom home looks indistinguishable on the bottom floor.
The upstairs portion of this place looks a lot better because it hasn’t been touched much, so it won’t require as much work. One thing Aubrey immediately notes is that the bathrooms need to be expanded. She thinks that they need to be a bit bigger to be more appealing.
The homeowner was only asking for $185,000 but Aubrey knew it had multiple offers, especially because there isn’t much propety up for sale in that area, especially under $200,000. They put an initial bid of $187,000, but are countered with $188,000.
Aubrey wanted to keep fighting for it, but Bristol thought an extra $1,000 wasn’t that big of a deal. They take it for $188,000.
This episode is another one where Aubrey doesn’t really have a theme at the start, but finds one mid construction. She decides to give it a loft feel with a lot of blue, black, and gold accents.
The strength of this construction is in all the quirky extra features that Aubrey decided to give it, like floating stairs, a floating bench, barn doors and a balcony. Just listening to the design, it was starting to sound too busy.
The project didn’t end up costing that much, only $17,000, which was only about $2,000 more than their initial estimate. It also only took a little over 20 days to complete. The final result was a busy home, but it actually worked.
It came off as a modern loft where the blues gave it a more relaxing feel. It looked definitely like a beach house, perfect for a young couple or single person. Per usual, we loved Aubrey’s staging. With all the extra features, she knew to keep the staging a little more simple. She just really played on the blues and gold elements.
Our favorite part of this home was the barn doors, and the balcony that lead to the bedroom. The home really had sort of a bohemian artist loft style.
Flip or Flop Vegas Season 2 Episode 9 Before and After Gallery
Bristol and Aubrey decide to list the place for $249,000. With only 24-hours on the market, it sold for the asking price. Accounting for renovations, initial costs, and closing fees, they made a profit of $34,100.
