Last night on Fixer Upper season 5, we watched as Chip and Joanna Gaines worked together to make Chip’s dream of opening a modern breakfast joint a reality. This episode started off with Chip telling Joanna that he has an opportunity of a lifetime that he would like for her to consider investing in. He then tells her that it’s more of a partnership and tells Jo that he has had a dream of opening a breakfast joint and she is pretty shocked by this. However, after the initial shock wore off, she went to see the restaurant with Chip.

Chip couldn’t be more excited when Jo told him that she could wrap her head around the breakfast joint. Demo day goes off without issues and it is time to start putting up some steel beams and vault all the ceiling to make the space bigger. The back dining area is going to be lined with windows now to brighten it up a bit and Jo has a plan of putting large communal tables in that area so that people could sit together and get to know other patrons.
It is time for Chip and Jo to decide on a name for the restaurant. Chip jokes and says “Chip’s Kitchen” but Jo wants something a little more welcoming. They decide on “Magnolia Table” and their slogan is going to be “Where everyone has a seat at the table.” Jo mentions putting avocado toast on the menu but Chip thinks that’s ridiculous. He puts a sign on the marquis asking people to beep once if they want avocado toast, two if they don’t. Chip is really using this as a deciding factor when finalizing the menu.
The inside of this restaurant is going to be a really modern space with a lot of black and white tiling and iron work from Dustin’s place. Meanwhile, Jo is perfecting her biscuit recipe for the menu to use for biscuits and gravy, breakfast sandwiches and other menu items. Later we get a look at Chip putting in the shiplap in the back dining room when Jo comes in to tell him that the furniture is coming in and the kitchen is almost done. Things are really coming along quickly for the restaurant.
There is still a ton of tiling to be done, the beams are in and stained and now it’s time for the cabinets to be put in. Jo has finalized their logo for their menus, aprons, napkins and other stuff. Things are becoming very real because they have a “now hiring” sign out front. Jo is going out antique shopping for the restaurant decor. She finds some great signs and stuff for inside of the restaurant.
Later, Jo comes by the restaurant to have Chip taste some of the juice ideas for the menu. One of them is mango and orange, there is a green one, a strawberry one and then the final one is called “the Chipper” and Jo tells him that it’s a ham sandwich thrown into a blender. Needless to say, the only one that Chip liked was the strawberry one.
It is now the race to the finish with Magnolia Table and all the finishing touches are being put together! The signs outside are being put up and there is a mural up on the wall inside to highlight the old Elite restaurant which was in business for 97 years prior to Chip and Jo buying it. Jo also had some of the old menus from Elite framed for the walls. It is just about reveal time and Chip and Jo are going to be revealing it to their kids who haven’t seen it yet.

We unfortunately didn’t get a look at the kitchen and patio areas in the big reveal, but the restaurant itself looks amazing! Chip now has his dream restaurant and they all seem so excited about this new adventure. What do you think of the Magnolia Table? I can’t wait to go back to Texas and try it out!
