In this episode of Fixer Upper season 4, the Gaines’ team up with Robert Griffin III, former quarterback for the Cleveland Browns who also played for Baylor. He runs a foundation called Family of III and they give back to the community in many ways. This project is for Bill and Sherry Graham, Bill is an Army veteran and served in Vietnam.
Their home is a two bedroom, one bath and only 800 square feet. When they meet Mr. Graham he tells them that there just isn’t enough room for them and their kids and grandkids when they come over for holidays. He really just wants it to be opened up more and the Gaines’ have just the idea for this cute little house. First, let me show you what the house looked like before!

Joanna wants to open up the living room, dining room and kitchen areas, but even if she does that, there isn’t much room. There is a door off the kitchen that leads to an addon that was turned into a laundry room and has a spare refrigerator in it. They are going to use that space as part of the dining room and kitchen and relocate the washer and dryer. The original plan was to put it in the garage, but they ended up just adding onto the space and using some of it for a new laundry room and a master bathroom too.
On demo day, RGIII came by to help Chip rip apart the Graham’s home and then when it came time to rebuilding and expanding, Chip enlisted some help from local members of the US Army. Joanna had an old hope chest that belonged to Mr. Graham’s mother refinished and repaired. After spending some time in storage, the cedar wood was warped and one of the legs fell off, but they were able to make a new one and get it all looking brand new.
They also installed a new roof on the house, but in the process it rained and some of the wood floors were damaged and unable to be used as flooring. Chip ripped them up and replaced them and then Joanna had the idea of reusing the old wood as an accent wall in their entry way. With the old wood floors on the wall, Joanna had a sign made for that section of wall. It was made of sheet metal and it had the lyrics to “The Army Goes Rolling Along” carved into it.
In the beginning of this project, the house was only about 800 square feet, but by the end of the project the Graham’s house was closer to 1200 square feet. Their reaction to their new home was priceless and they couldn’t have been happier about their new home. Are you ready to see what the house looked like after? Well, here we go!

Joanna and Chip didn’t cease to amaze with this wonderful Fixer Upper. The Graham’s have more room for their family to run around and enjoy the space as well. What do you think of this transformation? Let me know in the comments below, on Facebook, or on Twitter!
RGIII helped demo?? Did he start out strong then fall down and tear something in his leg near the end of the day? Oh, that’s only on the field. *rimshot*
Hahaha! That was good! No, he didn’t end up on the IR by the end of the episode. However, he did a great job helping the demolishing the house, kind of like his career. Boom!
